Craftgallery is located in Yue Xiu district in the historic city of Guangzhou, South of China. The Gallery is dedicated to the development of contemporary metals, art jewelry and exciting unique crafts.
Established in 2017, Craftgallery’s program of exhibitions, artist conversations and craft workshops offers a platform for makers, artists and amateur craftspeople to exhibit their work. It also creates an important and wide ranging outlet for research into local and international craft culture.
Craft, a similar pronunciation of跨夫特 (pinyin, Kua Fu Te), means a bridge between extraordinary craftsmanship and individual language. It includes three layers of meaning: creating a bridge between the traditional and contemporary on an international and domestic level through craftspeople with specialised skills based knowledge using an individual or unique language.
The Craftgallery specialises in creations made by innovative contemporary studio artists from China and the world (abroad). It presents an expansive view of contemporary craft and creates exciting opportunities for local and international artists, who explore different dialogues between materials, forms, hands and heart (concepts and ideas), to showcase their innovative ideas.
Coupled with exhibitions of contemporary craft, Craftgallery also publishes a range of catalogues and has an extensive collection of artists’ work. It collaborates with other local and international art institutions and galleries, fostering craft and cultural exchange through the sharing and teaching of innovative contemporary ideas.
